Challenge #115 - Sketch by Sandra

Who knew washi tape could be used in so many ways.  Backgrounds, flowers and just a piece to add a highlight to a project to name but a few.  I love the inspiration we get from seeing your wonderful projects.  As usual the Winner and Top 3 will be announced next week so become a follower and you won't miss the post.

Our sponsor for this challenge is the wonderful Heather from

Heather Valentin is creative , award winning, modern-day fantasy and whimsical artist who has displayed a dynamic and vibrant energy while painting professionally for over 18 years.

She began to express herself creatively through movement at a very young age.
For many years she studied dance, being drawn to forms that allowed creative self expression, all the while feeling this constant urge to create with her hands. The canvas is now her dance floor where color, beauty and drama are expressed through her every pencil sketch and brush stroke. Her subjects vary from fairies, fantasy, mermaids, vampires, dragons, wildlife, abstract and more. She is one who is inspired in a single moment. Her dreams, moods and the the unfolding beauty of the world around her is what charts her dance for the day. She is most alive when sketching and painting, creating timeless pieces that reflect her heart and soul. Drawing breathes life into her soul- it enables her to reach out and touch lives. This gives her a place in the world one character and painting at a time.

Heather's artist portfolio has expanded to include such clients as Pepsi, Outback Steakhouse, Nabisco, Zephryhils and can now be found at Laguna Art, Third Stone Art Gallery and Sausalito Art Galleries, along with commercial and private collections across
the globe.

Her latest foray is to immortalize her popular drawn characters Eleanor and Pickles in a children's book of their own.

Our theme is a sketch by Sandra

Challenge #114 - Use washi tape

Once again it was a pleasure for our DT to look through the projects entered for our last challenge.  Digital images can be used in so many ways and for people who can never get a decent image from a stamp (me) a digi image is a fabulous way to go.  As usual the Winner and Top 3 will be announced next week so become a follower and you won't miss the post.

We have another DT member joining us with this challenge, please welcome Sandra.  We have been in contact with Sandra on facebook and she fits in perfectly with our awesome Design Team.

We have a lot of our regular sponsor for 2015 and a lot of new ones too.  For this challenge I would like welcome another new sponsor Sarah from

Stampz by Star

Hello! My name is Sarah though I am commonly known by friends and online as Star. This derived back from the early days when I first began signing my artwork as Stargirl (and have ever since.)

Art has has a big influence on my life and who I am. Though I have dabbled in many styles and types discovering Japanese anime and it's art style is what renewed my vigor to draw. It helps that I'm also a complete geek ~ anime, Japanese culture, books, writing, fantasy, cartoons, music, musicals, etc.

I am not very crafty with paper scrapbooking or putting together beautiful cards and creations BUT when I discovered the world of digital stamping I was fascinated what others could do with the same art stamp. I have also been fond of inking pen drawings in my sketchbooks. I have focused a lot on my digital art and other freelance projects but digital stamps is that perfect niche for being creative and getting back to pen&ink drawings. I always look forward to see what creations others have turned my stamps into!

Prize: choice of 3 images from the store

Theme: use washi tape

Hopefully you've will have gleaned some fabulous inspiration from out DT.  Some have used a little washi tape as an accent and some have gone all our and used lots.  I think you will agree with me that they all look fantastic.

To join in with our "washi tape" challenge please leave your project, after following our simple rules, with the link below.  To leave some love for our DT click on their name, to go to the store click on the title.

BIO

Hi! I'm Nikki, (Nikole when I'm in trouble), and I am the "scribbler" here at
Melonheadz. This is me....

I am the proud Mommy to 3 beautiful girls, wife to Mike, and the Mimi (Grandma) to one awesome little boy and sweet little baby girl.

My story is a bit long, but I hope it will inspire others to search out their dream and not give up.

My family, like millions of others struggled financially. My husband owns his own business, and I worked the grave yard shift in a home for mentally and physically disabled people. There were times when we had to choose between food and gas to get to work, or pay bills. We even went 6 months during the summer with the gas turned off to our home. We would boil the water on the stove for baths, and to make it worse, we only had 2 working burners on that stove.
Within the space of just over two years, we lost Mike's mother, both of my parents were diagnosed and passed away from cancer. Our oldest daughter left our home to live elsewhere, we lost our truck and home, and had to declare bankruptcy. It was the lowest point in my life.
This is where Heavenly Father stepped in and took over.
I was so blessed to find a man in my neighborhood that was a graphic designer. He took me under his wing after seeing something that I had drawn, and would process my scribbles and turn them into clip art. It was amazing!!!!! He helped me set up a shop to sell it. He will always be one of my heroes. Thank you James.
One month when we just couldn't stretch our finances any further, we met with the Bishop in our church to ask for help. We hated to do it, but had no other choice. While we were there, we asked him to pray with us, so that we could find a way to be self sufficient. Not to be rich. Not to get "free" money or win the lottery. We wanted to be able to work and support our needs.
The next day I got the idea to start a blog, and I'm not gonna lie.... I thought it was really stupid. I didn't know how to make a blog. I didn't really even know what one was. That thought nagged me for DAYS!!!! I finally sat down and figured it out.... Then the miracles really began.
Within a few days of posting my first free graphics, I got picked up by a site that posts links to free graphics every day. I had over 2,000 views, and thought there was some kind of error. I posted as often as I could. I found lots of friends, and am glad to say, I still have many of them :)
I found another neighbor who was able to help me get the software I needed to be able to create professional grade graphics at a huge discount. It was still a stretch to buy it, but we did it. More blessings.
I was then urged by a friend to start some shops on websites like Etsy, and Teachers Pay Teachers by my friends Rachelle and Patty,
and my world changed. More blessings.
We could buy toilet paper, and non essential stuff that we couldn't afford before.... like... oh... chocolate milk! and pens! And band aids!!!!! And just breathe. 5 minutes without worry.
I know God has a plan for me, and has given me the opportunity to do what I love to do. He has sent people into my life to show me my path, and guide me to where I needed to be. I have been given the opportunity to serve others, and will be forever grateful for each one.
God has blessed me. He knows my heart. He loves me.
And, he has sent me you.
Thank YOU, for your support, comments (both good and critical),
and friendship. You have helped to change our lives! I can only hope that I can give you something back. I hope my scribbles make you smile, and warm your heart.
